FINE ART BRONZE FOUNDRY TECHNIQUES TAUGHT BY PROFESSIONAL FOUNDERS
 

IRON CASTING - with "BROOKLYN IRON"
Instructors: Jake Koltz, Michael Dominik, and Matt Crane, original members of 'Brooklyn Iron'

In this class students will produce iron castings of their own pieces or a pattern of their choice. Students will learn to make professional sand molds, help build a cupola (iron furnace), melt and pour iron. The history and methodology of Iron Casting will be addressed during lectures and in hands-on demonstrations. In this workshop founders will teach step by step methods of the resin bonded sand molding process.

RUBBER MOLDS
Instructors: Lukasz Kuczynski and Bozo Kemperle - Staff Mold Makers New Foundry New York

In this class students will produce a professional quality poured rubber mold on their own art work. The class will cover mold design strategy, good keys and clamping edges, clay blankets, plaster and burlap application, releases and rubber pouring techniques.

WELDING/FABRICATION
Instructors: Douglas Susack and Alex Angio - Staff welders New Foundry New York Metal Finishing Department

This is a perfect workshop for those who already have a utilitarian project in mind (such as a furniture project) or would like to learn to weld while fabricating a sculpture. This workshop will cover various welding techniques: torch cutting, tig arc welding, oxy-acetylene welding, stick arc welding, and silver soldering. Students will observe and practice all techniques under the close supervision of professional certified welders. Flame control, bead control and penetration are covered during instruction and demonstration.

PORTRAIT CLASS W. BARNEY HODES
Instructor: Barney Hodes is one of New York's high profile figurative art teachers, known for creating a high energy atmosphere in his classrooms while teaching life size, or over life size full figure sculpture.

In this class students will set up armatures, block up, and sculpt a portrait bust in clay. Individual critiques will be provided to each student on their work with some class discussion. The class will work from a live model.
